Promote Worldwide Developments

Throughout the world of information management, IATUL is known and appreciated as the global association for professional networking of library directors and senior managers at university and research libraries. Library managers of more than 200 member libraries collaborate in multinational IATUL projects, enrich and learn from each other and exchange ideas and experience at a multitude of events, IATUL offers for the community of librarians in the world. IATUL wants to enable initiatives that make a difference for the information infrastructure of a targeted region.

IATUL Directors’ Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

In March 2017 the IATUL Directors’ Summit  took place in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The aim was to analyze requirements for the development of academic libraries in Cambodia and neighboring countries. The event aimed to be a forum for exchange of experience at executive level in library management. 

It resulted in the planning of a Master of Library and Information Sciences for Cambodia. There is high potential to start further projects in the future.

IATUL Directors’ Summit in Namibia and South Africa

In November 2017 the IATUL Directors’ Summit on “The Impact of Emerging Technologies on Library Services in Developing Countries” was organized in cooperation with the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). This event focussed on identifying ways in which the fast-paced world of information technology is influencing library services at southern African universities. It has also set the stage for potential IATUL initiatives to approach challenges that universities libraries in the region might be experiencing in their service delivery and development.
